This program will look at the challenge of digital rights management (DRM), considering not only the legal constraints on its use but also the strategic opportunities made possible through the combination of both these technologies and more conventional legal protections. We will think through not only the law, including sections 512 and 1201 of the Copyright Act, but also the policy and strategic issues implicated by the wide range of encryption and monitoring technologies now in use.
